These images represent a selection of photos of Scottish social enterprises taken by Becky Duncan from 2009-2018. They were collated for the 'Ten years of social enterprise work' exhibition for Social Enterprise World Forum in Edinburgh on 12-14 September 2018, supported by Community Enterprise in Scotland (CEiS). The photobook was created to accompany the exhibition. Some of the photographs were commissioned directly by the featured organisation for their communications materials, others requested by social enterprise support agencies such as Firstport, Social Enterprise Scotland, Community Enterprise, Social Enterprise Networks and various funders. Six examples of these digital images have been provided at item level.

'The first ten years'

Community Business Scotland and the Association of Community Enterprises in the Highlands and Islands, 'The first ten years: a decade of community enterprise in Scotland', October 1987. This publication covers the development of the community enterprise movement in Scotland between 1977-1987, looking at lessons learned, key issues and development for the future. Containing foreword by Glen Buchanan and 16 articles written by leaders in the field: Linda Echlin; John Pearce; Willy Roe; Ronald Young; Roy Pedersen; Carola Bell; John Rugman; John Harrison; Iain Clark; Helen Macneil; Colin Roxburgh; George Burt; Pat Cassidy; Keith Hayton; Sir Kenneth Alexander; and Tor Justad.

1936 extension to Park Drive building

This subseries consists of 5 files:

Following the death of Walter R Watson in 1932, James Monro was engaged as Architect to the College. His first major undertaking was the new extension. The College purchased 7 Park Drive in 1923, 8 Park Drive in 1927 and 9 Park Drive in 1934. Work began on the extension in April 1935. Mr Monro's plans included a new dietetic kitchen and laboratory in the original College buildings; 3 new kitchens, a laundry and 2 housewifery classrooms in No. 7; retaining the hostel at No. 8 and providing staff dining room and common room; moving the Students' Union to No. 9, along with a new recreation hall and residential hostel. The new extension was opened on 29 October 1936.
